I won’t say it’s Shakespearean, obviously. But it hits every beat in a way that feels perfectly tuned for a teen romantic comedy. Sometimes it’s fast-paced sometimes it’s slow and reflective sometimes it’s outright sappy. Not only that, but I think that, rhythm-wise, this one’s hard to beat. I suppose you could say that of any movie, but the quips, the clothing, and especially the music make it feel extremely of that year, when I was in high school.
